Chai Energy Balls

Chai Energy Balls

These energy balls are full of sweet, spicy flavors. Since they contain lots of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger they remind me of a delicious cup of chai tea.  The tahini and honey not only hold the ingredients together but complement the spice flavors too. The hint of vanilla from the protein powder is also a nice addition.

With lots of protein, fiber and healthy fats this delicious snack is very satisfying. These travel well too which make them great for taking to work or school. Not to mention these are really quick and simple to make.

Chai Energy Balls

Instructions:

  • 1 ½ cups rolled oats
  • ¾ cup vanilla protein powder (I used vanilla whey protein powder)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ cup tahini
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 tablespoons water

Mix together the oats, protein powder and spices. Add the tahini, alternately mixing and cutting the tahini into small chunks with the spoon as you stir. When the tahini is fairly evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture, add the honey and water. Mix well and look at the texture; it should be just sticky and wet enough to roll into balls so add a little more water if it is too dry. Scoop the batter out with a spoon and shape it. Feel free to make the energy balls any size that you like. I usually make mine into 12 balls that are about 1” in diameter. You can put them in the fridge to firm up a bit or eat as is.
